Commencement 2009
Commencement Merchandise

Graduation Announcements, College Rings, and Diploma Frames are available for purchase by candidates for graduation. A Graduation Fair is scheduled each February where graduates can place orders directly with a representative from the vendor, although orders can be placed at other times of the year. A sample diploma frame is on display in the Bookstore.

Students also arrange for rental of regalia for the Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement Exercises at the Graduation Fair. In addition, a photograph is taken of each student in graduation regalia that is used for the class composite photo.

The Bookstore will be open during the Dean's Reception after the Commencement Exercises with various memorabilia items.

Cap and Gown Rental

Graduates are required to wear graduation regalia consisting of a Doctor of Law gown, tam, and hood with our school colors. Measurements will be taken and the rental fee Ave Maria School of Law Cap & Gown is due at the Graduation Fair in February.

Students who are members of Delta Theta Phi or Phi Alpha Delta may wear cords signifying their membership in those law fraternities.

The regalia is a rental unit and must be returned during the reception following the Commencement Exercises. Students may keep the tassel on the tam as a souvenir.

Class Rings

Among the traditions of graduating is the right to wear the official Ave Maria School of Law ring, which symbolizes years of achievement, pride, and hard work. The Ave Maria School of Law ring is an all gold signet ring featuring the official school seal. The ring may be customized with the graduate's degree and year of graduation on the sides of the ring. If preferred, the sides of the ring may be left plain.

Graduation Photos

Two types of graduation photographs are available to students.

A posed photograph of each student in graduation regalia and business attire is taken at the Graduation Fair. The photograph in regalia attire is used in the composite photograph of the graduating class. Students may order copies of these photographs at their option. Orders can be placed at the time the photograph is taken or later with an additional charge. Students wishing to place orders should contact Lifetouch at (810) 229-9476. A photograph proof number will be required and can be obtained from the administrative assistant in Student Affairs.

Photographs are also taken at the Commencement Exercises when the graduate shakes the hand of the Dean and at the top of the stairs leading down from the stage. GradPhoto, the company who takes these photographs, will send proofs to each graduate who can purchase them at their option.
