Volunteers needed at Collier County Legal Aid Offices

There is a  need for additional students immediately to assist in preparing immigration applications for Haitians.  Work will take place at the Collier County Legal Aid Offices, either in Immokalee or in Naples.  You will be trained on-site.  Please email Sister Maureen Kelleher directly at mkelleher@legalaid.org.

Email should contain the following information:

  • your name
  • your email address (use you avemarialaw address if possible so she will recognize who is sending the email)
  • your phone number 
  • You will be asked to commit to one 3 hour block of time once a week, always at the same time. To help Maureen fit you in best, please indicate three choices for availability, indicating day of week, and time period (eg., Mondays 5-8pm, Thurs. 9-12, Fri. 10-1)

As a reminder……..2L and 3L students have an opportunity to earn pro bono service hours when they participate in this work. Please see Victoria W. Ryan, Director of Career Services for more information on pro bono.

Lunch Featuring Dr. Maurizio Ragazzi

Co-sponsor a Lunch Featuring Dr. Maurizio Ragazzi as its Guest Speaker

Dr. Ragazzi is Senior Counsel at the World Bank, where he specializes in public international law. Before joining the World Bank's legal department in 1994, he practiced for five years in the New York and Paris offices of White & Case, during which time he also acted as an international arbitrator. In addition to his law degrees from the universities of Ferrara (Italy), Columbia (New York) and Oxford (UK), Dr. Ragazzi has degrees in theology and canon law. He has published international law books with Oxford University Press and Martinus Nijhoff, and articles on various topics, including Church-state relations.
