Areas of Expertise

  • Professor Murphy teaches Torts, Complex Litigation, Advanced Torts, and Mass Torts. She has also taught Civil Procedure and Conflict Resolution. Her research and publications address topics in the civil procedure and complex litigation areas.

Professional Experience

Professor Murphy began her legal career as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Edward A. Tamm of the United States Court of Appeals, District of Columbia Circuit. Thereafter, she worked for several years in the D.C. office of Jones, Day, where she specialized in the areas of antitrust and litigation. She began her teaching career at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, and later spent several years as a faculty member with the University of Detroit Mercy School of
Law. Professor Murphy was one of the first members of Ave Maria’s faculty.
