Claire T. OKeefe
Assistant Professor of Advanced Critical Thinking & Bar Prep Specialist
Professor Claire O’Keefe earned her Juris Doctor degree from Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, in Huntington, New York, in 1994. She practiced in the areas of family law and labor law and spent ten years at the New York State Attorney General's Office as an Assistant Attorney General in the Labor Bureau. In that capacity, Professor O’Keefe focused on appellate practice, which included defending state agencies, including the New York State Department of Labor and the New York State Workers' Compensation Board. Professor O’Keefe has argued in the New York State Appellate Division and before the New York State Court of Appeals. She has over eight years of law school administration experience including positions as Director of Admissions at Touro Law School and Director of Student Affairs at Hofstra Law School. Her experience is in the areas of admissions, student affairs, academic support, and academic advising. Professor O’Keefe joined Ave Maria School of Law in August 2011 and has participated in the counseling and assessment of students in the Applied Critical Thinking and Legal Analysis course, designed and presented 1L workshops and provides academic counseling to the entire student body. Professor O’Keefe’s responsibilities also include that of Bar Preparation Specialist, serving as the primary point of contact within the Department of Advanced Critical Thinking on bar related information and serves as a liaison/resource to the Departments of Student Affairs and Career Services, as well as to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and the Bar Exam Task Force.
