Laura A. Weseley obtained her B.A. from Trinity College in Philosophy and her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. Prior to transitioning into academia, she practiced copyright, trademark, art, antitrust and securities law in New York City and Los Angeles. Over the past 15 years, Ms. Weseley has worked in the Career Services departments of several universities / law schools. Most recently, she served as the Director of Student Employment at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. From 2001 until 2006, she was the Associate Director of Career Services at Loyola Law School; and from 1999 to 2001, she was the Assistant Director of Career Services and Adjunct Professor of Trademark Law at Pepperdine University School of Law.
She is an active member of NALP (National Association of Legal Professionals) and has represented the Rocky Mountain region on its Student Counseling Committee. She also authored / co-authored several articles and pamphlets for NALP, including a brochure on Salary Negotiations. In addition, Ms. Weseley was the President and Vice President of WASEA (Western Area Student Employment Association) as well as the Chair of the Awards Committee for NSEA (National Student Employment Association). She is currently licensed to practice law in New York, California and Connecticut.
Ms. Weseley joined the AMSL team in October of 2012. As the Director of Career Services, Ms. Weseley manages and develops the Career Services Office, including its counseling, recruitment, externship and public interest programs, as well as its work study placements.
