Ligia M. De Jesus
Ligia M. De Jesús is an Associate Professor at Ave Maria School of Law. Her scholarship focuses on the unborn child’s right to life in international human rights law, particularly, in Latin America and the Caribbean. Courses taught by her include International law, International Human Rights Law, Family Law and Law and Children. Before joining the Ave Maria School of Law faculty, Professor De Jesus served as a legal advisor on right to life and family law issues for the National Congress of Honduras. She also worked with several United Nations agencies, including UNICEF's regional office for Latin America and the Caribbean in Panama. Professor De Jesús was awarded the prestigious Rómulo Gallegos fellowship by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in Washington, D.C. in 2001. She received LL.M. degrees from Harvard Law School and the University of Groningen in The Netherlands. Professor De Jesús lives in Naples with her husband and son.
