Robert M. Garrity
Fr. Robert M. Garrity, J.C.L., S.T.D., is the Director of Campus Ministry and an Adjunct Professor of Theology at Ave Maria University. He has taught courses on the Theology of Canon Law to both graduate and undergraduate students in the University and in the Institute for Pastoral Theology. Father Garrity has served as Adjutant Judicial Vicar and Judge, Advocate, and Defender in the Matrimonial Tribunal of the Diocese of Rockford, Illinois, and as Judge in the Provincial Court of Appeals in Chicago. He has published several articles in scholarly journals on canonical topics, such as lack of due discretion for marriage, the history of clerical celibacy, and the limits of local accommodation in the liturgy. Father Garrity is the former Pastor of St. Mary Church in Huntley, Illinois, a parish of some 5,500 families today. Father holds Masters, Licentiate, and Pontifical Doctorate degrees in Theology, as well as a Licentiate Degree in Canon Law, from The Catholic University of America.
