Professor De Jesus Married in Rome

On July 4th, 2009, Ave Maria School of Law Professor Ligia Mariella De Jesus celebrated the sacrament of marriage at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City State within the City of Rome, Italy. She and her new husband, Antonello Castaldi, were joined in holy matrimony in a ceremony presided over Fr. Michael P. Orsi, the Chaplain of Ave Maria School of Law. It is extremely rare for a couple to be married at St. Peters, and the couple were granted special permission from high-ranking officials in the Catholic Church to be married there.St. Peter's is one of the most holy sites in Christendom, tracing its groundbreaking to the year 1506 and the burial site of St. Peter, Apostle of Jesus Christ and first Pope of the Roman Catholic Church.

Fr. Orsi, in presiding over the marriage ceremony of his colleague and friend Professor De Jesus, said, "Oggi e' la Festa Americana dell'indipendenza. Per me, questo e' il piu bel Quattro Luglio. Sono felice di celebrare questo matrimomonio per Ligia Mariella e Antonello...  Speriamo che tu Antonello e tu Mariella siete sempre aperti al dono dei figlie che il signore ci manda."  Today is the celebration of American Independence. For me this is a very special Fourth of July. I am happy to celebrate this wedding for  Ligia Mariella and  Antonello... We hope that you, Antonello, and you, Ligia, will always be open to the gift of children according to the Lord’s command."
