Topics: This week, for the August 28 show, Fr. Orsi will talk with Attorney James Fox of Roetzel & Andress. Mr. Fox focuses his practice on matters involving litigation and governmental practice. He has represented individual, education, government, and corporate clients, in cases involving land use, real estate contracts, personal injury, wrongful death, construction defects, contract disputes, unfair trade practices and constitutional rights. Mr. Fox is a 2003 Ave Maria School of Law Alumni. He will be talking to us in general about his case in which he represents the Collier County School District. Attorneys representing both the district and the World Changers were in court Tuesday for a hearing in which the World Changers of Florida were seeking an injunction, which would restrain the district from enforcing a policy that would keep the World Changers from distributing Bibles in Collier County middle and high schools. Mr. Fox will discuss with us the first amendment right to free speech and the government restraints designed to prevent religous entanglement as stated in the Establishment Clause. The second guest will be a pre-recorded interview with Attorney Ronald Stoddart, B.S., J.D. Mr. Stoddart has been practicing law since 1973 and is a graduate of Southwestern University. For the past 15 years he has been the President and Executive Director of Nightlight Christian Adoptions in Fullerton, California. Nightlight Christian Adoptions (www.Nightlight.org) is a licensed adoption agency offering programs in domestic, international and embryo adoptions. The agency was founded in 1959 and was previously known as Evangelical Welfare Agency and Christian Adoption & Family Services. The agency is accredited by the Council on Accreditation under the Hague Intercountry Adoption Act and by the Russian Federation for international adoptions. In 1998, the agency became the country’s first licensed adoption agency to offer embryo adoptions under its Snowflake® Frozen Embryo Adoption Program. Mr. Stoddart developed the agency’s Snowflake program in response to the growing number of embryos left stranded in the nation’s fertility clinics. The concept of offering real choices to genetic parents for placing their embryos for adoption in a manner analogous to traditional adoptions has been acknowledged and widely praised by organizations such as Focus on the Family. Mr. Stoddart has participated as a guest on broadcasts of “Focus on the Family” (1999) and “For Faith and Family” (2001) and has served as a spokesperson for numerous radio, television, newspaper and magazines exploring the ethics of embryo adoption and embryonic stem cell research. Since 2001, Mr. Stoddart has directed the agency’s participation in grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to increase public awareness of embryo donation and adoption. He relocated to Colorado to direct the Embryo Adoption Awareness Center, a dedicated resource to help spread embryo donation and adoption nation-wide. Mr. Stoddart will talk about the recent United States District Court decision concerning federal funding of embryo research.
