Michigan & Toledo Area Scholarship
Ave Maria School of Law in coordination with the Ave Maria Foundation is pleased to announce a new Michigan (& Toledo Area) Scholarship. The scholarship combines the St. Thomas More Scholarship with an additional stipend issued from the School of Law. This scholarship is intended to serve students from the Michigan and Toledo, Ohio areas. Candidates must be admitted to Ave Maria School of Law and must be a resident of the State of Michigan, or a resident of the State of Ohio and from the Toledo, Ohio area. As an alternative, candidates qualify if they graduated from a college or university located in Michigan or the Toledo, Ohio area. For the Scholarship, candidates must qualify under the St. Thomas More Full-Tuition Scholarship program. Primary criteria include an LSAT Score of 150 or above and a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.20. Stipends are paid by the School of Law, and made possible by the generous support of the School of Law by the Ave Maria Foundation. Students interested in receiving a stipend are required to submit a personal statement that demonstrates exceptional potential in furthering the mission of Ave Maria School of Law. The length of the personal statement should be between 500 and 1,500 words. Stipend amounts are listed below. Michigan (& Toledo Area) Stipend: Michigan (& Toledo Area) Scholarship recipients may also be eligible for one-time stipends towards living expenses incurred during their first year at AMSL. The Stipend amount varies depending on the candidate’s highest official LSAT score.

Renewal of Awards: The St. Thomas More Full-Tuition Scholarship is renewable for years two and three at the Law School, contingent upon the recipient’s academic performance at the end of the first and second year. Recipients must earn a cumulative GPA of at least 2.667 (the median in graded courses). The Michigan (& Toledo Area) Stipend is NOT renewable (it is a one-year stipend). Candidates who are not eligible for the Michigan (& Toledo Area) Stipend but are admitted to AMSL for Summer/Fall 2016 may otherwise be eligible for Academic Excellence Scholarships as well as Service and Leadership Awards.
