NAPLES, Fla. — October 12, 2026 —

Ave Maria School of Law is once again the only law school included in The Newman Guide, whose 2026–27 edition was released on Oct. 9, the feast of St. John Henry Newman.

The new edition is the first since Pope Leo XIV declared St. John Henry Newman a Doctor of the Church and named him Patron of Catholic Education. This year’s guide includes 179 recommendations across Catholic schools, colleges, graduate programs and curriculum providers.

Ave Maria Law’s J.D. program is listed among the guide’s recommended graduate programs. The recognition reflects the school’s commitment to forming lawyers through the Catholic intellectual tradition, where faith and reason inform the study of law and professional preparation is joined with moral formation.

For students discerning a legal education, that formation shapes more than what they learn in the classroom. It invites them to consider the purpose of law, the dignity of the human person and the responsibilities that come with serving others through the profession.
