The Office of Professional Development uses symplicity, an online career service management tool, to provide new job opportunities, participate in and signup for The Office of Professional Development programming and events, review resources in the document library and apply for on-campus recruitment.
Ave Maria Law boasts robust experiential skills programs, including our Externship Program, Clinical Program and Legal Internship programs, as well as a number of skills-based courses.
Ave Maria Law focus on competencies and practical skills through student encouragement and participation in local and national internships, externships and pro bono internships. Nearly 90% of our third year students have participated in these opportunities.
Ave Maria Law offers students a full-time Certified Legal Internship program where students will spend one full semester focusing solely on obtaining practical legal and advocacy skills.
Ave Maria Law students develop a strong commitment to their local communities beginning with the Law School’s partnership with the Southwest Florida legal and business communities. Ave Maria Law students are proud members of local professional and community groups.
Ave Maria Law is conveniently located in Naples, Florida. While we are a national law school, more than 60% of our graduating students remain in Florida. Ave Maria Law alumni work for respected government agencies and law firms throughout the state of Florida.

Employers seeking legal interns may hire Ave Maria School of Law students as externships for academic credit, paid interns or work study interns, or a student may volunteer as an intern. Volunteer opportunities are most often through not-for-profit organizations where a student may earn pro bono credit for volunteering his/her time in advance of providing their legal skills to underserved communities.
Students can seek legal intern or extern opportunities through the Ave Maria School of Law On Campus Recruitment program held each semester. Employers may use this opportunity to interview current law students for internships, externships, work study and summer associate positions. Employers may sign up to participate in OCR by completing the OCR Request Form below, or by emailing Professional Development at opd@avemarialaw.edu.
Informational interviews are also an option if your firm or organization is considering hiring options.
Ave Maria School of Law always appreciates practitioners who are willing to volunteer their time to mentor to students and/or speak on a variety of topics, either through formal or informal presentations, or as a panel participant.
